Brittany’s story is on yesterdays post—lets see if we can get some support to help Brittany with more and more
pillowcases.
This started for me when I first saw on the Handmade Cooperative—Australian Handmade 4 Kids page calling for Pillowcases. Then I was lucky to win from The Oz Material Girls fabricand pattern for this Frilly Dilly Bag. UP for AUCTION starting Wednesday 7.30pm finishing Sunday 7.30pm.
All proceeds will be sent to Brittany for more pillowcases.
Set up by 15yr
old Brittany, we create and donate pillowcases to oncology kids in hospitals
around Australia.
Brittany was
6mths old when she was diagnosed with a rare GERM CELL tumour; she had
treatment for 3years, and was given a 0.01% survival rate. She is now a
gorgeous 15year old who still has a long way to go, but has decided to help put
a smile on someone else’s face by creating “PILLOWCASES FOR ONCOLOGY KIDS”.
She knows
how hard it is, and that sometimes you have a long road to travel. She also
hopes that one day no one will have to go through what she has to.
What started
out as a small pillowcase drive to collect/create handmade pillowcases that she
could donate to Oncology Kids in Hospital, (she was able to donate approx. 120
pillowcases to Westmead just after her 15th birthday in September
2011) has now escalated to something she wishes to continue 365 days a year and
donate pillowcases not only to Westmead Childrens Hospital, where she received
and continues to receive her treatment, but to hospitals all around Australia.
So if you
are able to sew or would like to donate some fabric, then why not get your
creative side happening and create a pillowcase for boys and girls, young and
old who are in hospital receiving treatment.
Brittany
used to have a particular pillow/pillowcase that she took to hospital all the
time she was receiving treatment, hers was “Navy blue with tiny red cherries on
it”.
Happy sewing
and we look forward to seeing some unique pillowcases.

Just posted the piccy of my new Project, I would so love to get your feedback on this. Wanted to make a Rag Quilt for ages and a small bag, so put the two together, what do you think?
What am I doing today? Well for a long time know been wanting to have a go at rag quilt - and also making some sort of girls bag, sooooo I am combining the two and so far looking quite good, need better scissors though, cutting the edges at the end is quite thick. Will put a piccy up later of the finished product, I think the idea is the wash it to get the best effect. Any easy tips here are always welcome.♥
WOW 2200 visits on this blog!!! Fantastic thanks to all for visiting. And please remember the MARKET NIGHT tonight 9pm - at the Madeit Store - find your links now so you don't miss it later.
Today has been busy with sewing, and a simple trip for errands - shows lost keys errrr and a broken down car, regardless I still managed to get the winning dress for Candice finished and wrapped to post tomorrow.
Candice won the December Birthday Celebration Competition and got to choose her own dress - style and fabric. Candice has purchased from me previously as has many of you now, she has supported me in several auctions now, it is great to have her get a win and here is her dress!!.
As well I managed to finish another "Milly" Dress for the Madeit Store - this fabric is so gorgeous pale pink roses, but it is so hard to get the right colour in my photos, it truly is much nicer in real. Just imagine pale pink roses.
I have been visiting a beautiful blog, page etc by a very talented lady that makes lots of gorgeous shabby chic things, has obsessions with mosaics, shabby chic, vintage, retro and MOSIACS!!!. You can find Deborahhttp://dkshopgirl.blogspot.com Hope you enjoy seeing all her beautiful stuff.♥
I am busily making up these Summer Fun Playsuits - please remember that I can do CUSTOM orders with any of the fabrics in my 'fabric album' here on the blog or on my facebook page. Any size or fabric combination is available - email - butterflybees@bigpond.com
